The warmth of human emotion :: essays research papers

The Warmth of Human Emotion Heat and warmth are usually depicted as elements of comfort and security. This warmth is what people crave to achieve this comfort. In Evelyn Lau’s â€Å"Family,† the heat and warmth give deeper meaning in regards to human emotion. The contrasting images of ice and cold as well resemble the abstract human emotion in the short story. The elements are used in such a way as to satisfy the hunger of emotional warmth in regards to the characters Zoe and Douglas. As the story unfolds there is a sense of coldness surrounding the community. The setting stage for the action is in fact a community in a cold winter. Through warmth is how one reaches one’s own comfort level. It is noted to the extent that one must almost search for the warmth inside one’s self to achieve this comfort. In the case of Zoe she achieves warmth though emotional stability. Both Zoe and Douglas do search for this but by intention are both quite different. As the friendly relationship between the two progresses, it soon evolves into a hot and steamy relationship full of adultery and deception. Lam 2 Zoe in the case of the relationship is the one who seems to crave this warmth. It is soon noted that her attraction towards Douglas becomes almost too great for her to control herself. Even though she knows that the man she desires is a well-respected man with a wife and children, she feels compelled to satisfy her own desire, thus deeming herself as being selfish. Yet at this point, as she is acquainted with the wife, Ellen, she still thinks about the warm touch of Douglas’ hand and how she is drawn to his warmth. As Zoe is left alone by herself, thoughts of sexual depictions come into her mind. As cold as she feels she pictures Douglas and his Wife in a cuddling scenario in the master bedroom. At this point she feels somewhat jealous of the fact that Ellen is his wife instead if herself. By occupying her mind with images of Douglas â€Å"wrapp[ing] his arms around his wife, her stomach and, her breasts† (Lau 1153), Zoe feels even more compelled to satisfy her desire f or Douglas. Her craving for Douglas’ emotional warmth becomes too unbearable for her as she watches the dead animals hung up in the organic-foods market. She â€Å"resist[s] the urge to lean forward and stroke her fingertips down the grain of their feathers and fur, towards the belly warm as the belly of a sleeping man† (Lau 1154).

Motivation and Unionization

Political philosophers, sociologists, economists and psychologists have been formulating theories to account for social organization. Man is a social being, one if his basic needs is to belong, and so it is but natural to him to organize institutions, organizations and groups. Motivation is a general term referring to the regulation of need-satisfying and goal-seeking behavior (Atkinson et al., 1993). Economists and political philosophers have studied social organization motivations basically to understand their role in commerce and industry, particularly labor organization. Unionization is act of forming labor unions, which are groups or organizations that are organized to represent the labor work force as a collective, whose objectives are to protect workers from unjust labor practices, to improve working conditions, and to look after the general welfare. Unionization is often viewed as negative from the perspective of management. Managing unions can only be done if there is through understanding of the motivations behind it. It is the objective of this paper to understand the concepts of motivation and unionization and to deduce an appropriate proposition to the management of labor unions. Understanding Unionization Industrialization fathered labor unions. Unions were to begin with organized to monitor pay levels and increase and working conditions and through it safety regulations were developed, and standardized, child labor was abolished, and work day and work week were shortened, and started non-wage benefits like pensions and health insurance (Feinman, 2006). Basically, unions gave workers bargaining power against unfair labor practices, safety measures in the lack of protective labor laws and allowed a venue to voice concerns of workers. Unions are not oppositions to management but a safeguard when workers become unheard, ignored or disregarded. The statement that â€Å"A company that deserves a union gets one† is not absolute but it is undeniable that it can greatly influence workers to organize unions. Unions may be organized even if there are optimum working conditions but the original motives for forming unions in the 19th century can be very become the motives for forming them today. It has to be recognized that unionization has significantly suffered a decline in the last 30 years (Clemens et al., 2003). Feinman (2006) reasons that the decline in unionization is the development of automation in factories, thus lessening those engaged in the industry, but there are still sectors that are in need of unions, particularly the service sector, to represent worker needs and concerns. Understanding Leadership and Motivation Leadership is a powerful motivator. Bad leadership can trigger unwanted responses in the workforce causing them to form defensive groups that may be having an attitude range of indifference to hostility. Confidence in management allows for open communication channels facilitating the discussion and resolution of concerns or disputes. Sound directives from management lead to responsiveness to company culture and inspire loyalty to the company. When workers feel secure, properly represented and involved in the company, the desire for collective action is not as significant (Dong-One and Voos, 1997). Sound leadership and motivation is able to guide the members of the organization towards the accomplishment of the major goal which is profits, efficiency and effectivity of the company. To achieve these, one has to be able to manage labor relations well. So, if workers turn to union organization as a means of communication and solving their concerns, considering the decline in unionization by workers, it may very well mean indeed that leadership and motivation strategies that are being implemented is not effective or enough to develop optimum labor relations. Deserving a Union What kind of companies has labor unions? Labor unions are present in all industries. The popular notion is that unionization is that it is only common blue collar workers but the reality is that even white collar workers need the protection against unfair labor practices, lack of labor legislation and oppressive conditions. The presence of unions does not increase labor liabilities, it only unifies the individual responsibility or management to workers. Surprisingly, there are even situations where the organization of a union should be encouraged by a company. Labor organizations have two faces according to Dong-One and Voos (1997) that â€Å"unions possess both a collective voice face and a monopoly face†. In the event that there are several groups in the workforce who have various concerns, it is to the benefit of management for workers to unionize into one group instead of the company having to deal with several groups instead (Flanagan, 1999). It can also make easier the assessment of workers’ dispositions and moods. In one way it can also contribute to labor stability, workers and management are bound by the collective bargaining agreements that are established thus providing specifics for operations, alleviation of concerns and improvement of the company as a whole. Conclusion The suggestion that if proper leadership and motivation techniques are employed and desirable policies devised, workers will not want to unionize is not absolutely conclusive. Workers may still not unionize even if their working conditions are less than desirable when there are legal impediments to do so or there is too much risk associated with the act of unionization. Conversely, workers of companies with good management may still opt to unionize in the vent that they desire an organized representation of themselves, unionize as a means if creating other institutions like cooperatives or lobby groups, or are required by the company or the state to unionize. The statement that â€Å"a company that deserves a union gets one† implies that the organization of labor unions a consequence is also misleading. It suggests that unionization is purely a deterrent to a company. Unionization can improve communication between workers and management, allow management greater access to workforce conditions, and promote the company as a preferred employer thus enhancing public image. There exists a duality in the existence of labor unions in their benefit and burden to an organization. It is important to understand that since individual motivations drive the organization of labor unions, there is no real straightforward judgment on its worth or price. Equally as influential in the organization of labor unions are macroeconomic factors that stem from national labor policies, service and product demands and national productivity. It is therefore the conclusion of this paper inefficient leadership and motivation is a significant factor in the formation of unions but it is not a conclusive reason for it is important to consider other contributing factors that can either encourage or inhibit unionization. Why Do You Sweat - Evaporative Cooling - The Heat Index

Most people know sweating is a process your body uses to cool down. Your body is always trying to maintain an even body temperature. Sweating reduces body heat through a process known as evaporative cooling. Just like getting out of a pool in the summertime, a small wind will be enough movement across your wet skin to create cooling. Try This Simple Experiment Wet the back of your hand.Blow gently across your hand. You should already feel a cooling sensation. Now, blot your hand dry and use the opposite hand to feel the actual temperature of your skin. It will actually be cooler to the touch! During the summer, humidity in certain areas of the world is very high. Some people even refer to the weather as muggy weather. High relative humidity means the air is holding a lot of water. But there is a limit to the amount of water air can hold. Think of it this way...If you have a glass of water and a pitcher, no matter how much water is in the pitcher, you simply cannot make a glass hold more water. Just to be fair, the idea of air holding water can be seen as a common misconception unless you look at the full story on how water vapor and air interact. There is a wonderful explanation of the common misconception with relative humidity from Georgia State University. Relative Humidity is a "Glass Half Full" Going back to the idea of evaporative cooling, if there is nowhere for the water to evaporate to, then it stays on your skin surface. In other words, when the relative humidity is very high, there is only a little room in that glass for more water. If the Heat Index is High in Your Area... When you sweat, the only way you cool down is through evaporation of water from your skin. But if the air is holding too much water already, the sweat stays on your skin and you get little to no relief from the heat. A high Heat Index value shows a small chance of evaporative cooling from the skin. You even feel like it is hotter outside because you cant rid your skin of the excess water. In many areas of the world, that sticky, humid feeling is nothing more than... Your Body Says: Wow, my sweating mechanism is not cooling my body very well because the high temperatures and high relative humidity combine to create less than ideal conditions for the evaporative cooling effects of water from surfaces. You and I say: Wow, it is hot and sticky today. I better get in the shade! Either way you look at it, the Heat Index is designed to keep you safe in the summertime. Keep on alert for all signs of summer heat illnesses and know the danger zones!

Life Course Development Interview Name Institution Date Introduction Development refers to a series of age-related changes that occur over an individual’s life course. Several famous psychologists such as Erik Erikson, Sigmund Freud, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Jean Piaget describe development of an individual as a series of phases or stages. In this case, a stage refers to a period in development in which individuals exhibit typical patterns in behavior and establish certain capabilities. The various stages of development as outlined in various developmental theories and concepts that would be analyzed in the paper share three main assumptions. Erik Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial development Just like Sigmund Freud, Erikson believed in the significance of early childhood. However, he believed that an individual’s personality development occurs over the individual’s entire course of life. In the early 1960s, Erik Erikson proposed a theory that provided a description of eight different stages of human development (Scheck, 2014). According to him, in each phase, individuals face new challenges and the outcome of the stage depends on how individuals handle the encountered challenges (Scheck, 2014). The stages are named based on the possible outcomes. Trust versus mistrust. This is the first stage which comes in the first year after a child’s birth. In this stage, children depend entirely on adults for basic needs such as warmth, comfort and food. If the caretakers provide these needs in a reliable manner, the children become attached to them and develop a sense of security (Scheck, 2014). Otherwise, the babies may develop insecure attitude or mistrust. This theory affirms the response received from the interviewee regarding her childhood years. How does Robert Browning convey the feelings of narrator for the woman in each of the two poems Porphyrias Lover and My Last Duchess Essay Example For Students

How does Robert Browning convey the feelings of narrator for the woman in each of the two poems Porphyrias Lover and My Last Duchess Essay In Porphyrias Lover he wants to control her feelings when she finally does love him he kills her to control the fact that she does love him and she always will whereas if she were still alive she would stop loving him and he would have no control over that. The way the lover killed her in porphyrias lover is very sudden, and unexpected when you are reading it the start of the poem sounds like everything is fine and suddenly, he kills her. The reader expects that to happen because everything was going so well before, and why would he want to spoil it? But as you read on, it becomes clear. Porphyrias power is stopped when she tells him why she came: Murmuring how she loved me shes too weak, for all her hearts endeavour To set its struggling passion free From pride, and vainer ties dissever, And give herself to me forever. This is Porphyrias weak attempt at breaking-up with the lover. By murmuring she loses her pride. You can even imagine that she had come to him from a party when the speaker, later in the poem, says: tonights gay feast. By breaking-up with him she could possibly enjoy her evening with another man. Lust, a feeling closely linked with love. Porphyria knows that he needs her to care for him but does not want that kind of life any more. She tries to make this break-up less painful for her lover by saying that she would stay with him if she could, but cant. She lies to him. People lie a lot when love is involved due to the sensitivity of the issue. Due to the emotions the narrator is feeling begins to mislead himself, convincing himself that she enjoys his company and worships him and will give herself to him. As he convinces himself of this, he reaches the conclusion that she was his, the repeated word mine makes it clear that will do anything to stay with her. The Lover in Porphyrias Lover seems similar in the ways of being just as possessive and maybe more obsessive. However, the lover is very much in love with Porphyria and this is why he takes her life, as he killed her with her own hair when she told him that she loved him, that moment she was mine, mine. The fact that he was so overwhelmed and in love with her is shown by him killing her to save that moment and her love for him. Also, the man feels no guilt, he feels what he did is perfectly fine because God had not spoken against him, and God has not said a word. It is slightly different in My Last Duchess, because in that one it seems to be further in the past, like its history but in Porphyrias Lover it seems more recent, so it is more sudden. In My Last Duchess he doesnt make it so obvious that she has been killed I gave commands, and all smiles were stopped, it doesnt hit you straight away you have to think about it for a bit to work it out, which is different than in Porphyrias lover. The duke suggests that he has a craves of control. He describes how he is easy annoyed when she does not pay attention or treat him better than anyone else. It is easy to see that he could not control her, and it trying to do so she rebelled against him. .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .postImageUrl , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:hover , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:visited , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:active { border:0!important; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:active , .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufb94b329a49f9c1359c046814092bb7c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Endless Summer Nights EssayHe describes the duchess as a person with a kind personality stating that she he had a soft heart trying to criticise her nature. Public Relations Contemporary Approaches

Question: Discuss about the Public Relations Contemporary Approaches. Answer: Introduction According to statistics done in 2014 from a British gambling consultancy, Singapore has been identified as the second biggest gamblers in the world. . However, the latest statistics from the British Gambling Consultancy recognised that the losses because of the gambling incurred by per individual adult of the country have dropped from last three years. The average of the adult individual of this country has lost 680 (S$1,189) in the last year which is reasonable down from the year of 2010, 822(S$1,451) as per H2 Gambling Capital. Approximately, half of the amount has been lost in casinos in last year, as well as the reminder of the losses has been incurred from the non-casino game, lotteries, offshore gaming website and betting. As per the website of the news magazine The Economist Singapore is ranked second after Australia in term of losses per adult resident in gambling. The full amount of gambling losses incurred by the people of Singapore amounted to S$9.9 Billion and this inclusive of losses by the visitors and tourist in the country (Dilenschneider and Bartiromo 2010). There are ten countries, which are incurred big gambling losses subsequently United States, China, Japan, and Britain and Singapore is also included with these countries for the losses incurred from the gambling. Probably the Singapore is the only country in Asia, where the realistic, actual assessment of the gambling can be accomplished. The assessment for the actual number of the people indulging in gambling and the amount of the losses can be measured (DuheÃÅ'  2012). Strategy In public relations, strategy plays a critical role in determining how organisations handle relationships and demands. (Xavier, Johnston Patel, 2006) Appreciation of strategy can go against the concept of public relations largely as a tactical communication function and thus, public relations practitioners are known as communications technicians rather than managers (Moss and Warnaby, 2000). An organization must come up with a vision to be strategic so as to achieve its long-term goal by considering the opportunities and competencies of the organization. The strategy for the word Public relation determines the tactics and the approaches that are followed for the creation of the appropriate achievement of the result. It also focuses on the enhancements of the approaches taken for the consideration of the strategic objectives made for the achievement of the plan or the program made for the Anti-Gambling Campaign. For the judgement of the strategy of the PR, media plays the appropriate and important for the communication with the public and thereby it also represents the combination of the communications that are requisite for the attainment and influencing the public relations. It also creates the medium for the communication of the business and the objectives that helps in the consideration of the approaches for the purpose of the awareness and the marketing of the Anti-Gambling Campaign that was helps in Singapore in the year 2010 and 2014 (Franklin 2009). Apart from this the integrated plan is made with the enhancement of the multilayer design for the creation of the appropriate marketing plan and thereby it also helps in creating appropriate messages to the public. If the appropriate message cannot be appropriately delivered to the public then the strategy of the PR seemed to be failed with the fail outcomes of the desired objectives and the aims (WoÃÅ'† n 2010). As per the todays strategy of PR (Public Relations), it describes the actions that can be easily achieved by the achieving the predefined goals. The strategies that help in the creation of the implementation of the celebrity endorsement programs that focus for the coverage of the incidents with the help of the media channel and thereby the strategy becomes the part of the PR which helps in the creation of the public awareness programs. This presents the effect of the conduct of the PR in relation to the enhancement of the programs considered for the case study that seals with the Singapore's Anti-Gambling Campaign, particularly the 2010 and 2014 campaign (Barlowe 2014). This campaign seems to be the effective campaign that is made with the help of the PR and thus also helps in providing the satisfaction of the strategies made by the PR for this campaign. The second strategy of the PR in the recent times determines the Budget support conditions which becomes the another strategy for v iewing the position, pitch and the products. It also helps in determining the brainstorming ideas that represents the strategy better strategy formed by the PR for the firm or the organisation. With the appropriate consideration of the case study, the representation is also made which enhances the considerations of the campaign with the results proved to be viral in the country of Germany. Henceforth it represents the considerations of the case study with visualising the tactics made by the PR while creating the platform for the sending the particular messages to the public (Barlowe 2014). This also helps in representing the ideas of the PR that proves that the strategy and the tactics followed by the PR helps in the satisfaction of the consumers taste and the preferences with the appropriate selection of the process for sending the messages about the case of Singapore's Anti-Gambling Campaign, particularly the 2010 and 2014 campaign. The linear strategy approach stresses on the planning aspect of strategy. It looks into the achievement of pre-stated goals and is systematic and logical in its planning process. Acting under the assumption that the organisation is structured orderly, the environment is comparably predictable . This in turn insulate the organisations from environment forces. The strategy NCPG has adopted has always been considered to be linear. Their campaign advertisement has always been put across throughoutthat gambling harms the loved ones the most and not just oneself. For instance, during their 2014 campaign, the advertisement depicts a scene where a father is begging her daughter for access to her savings, which, given that she is a child, is stored in a piggybank. Viewers have to witness the sight of the daughters father begging for money to fuel his addiction and the father having to resort to taking money from his children, expressing no guilt at all, instead believing that the next time will be his time to strike rich (Watson and Noble 2007). Another advertisement shown in 2010, it shows a young girl, where her life is affected from the consequences of problem gambling, from the house being defecated, to the constant arguments which hints that the fathers gambling addiction is root of the problem, with a message in the end, if problem gambling is affecting your family, youve have crossed the line. Clearly seen in the two advertisement, NCPG has aimed to tug at the emotion strings of the viewers, as it is believed that it is a major factor in persuasive advertising when it aims to change viewpoints and not just to inform viewers from a logical point of view. When the advertisement resonated emotionally, a person will not only feels differently, but also react and think differently.(O'Shaughnessy and O'Shaughnessy 2004) Based on the 2014 Gambling Participation Survey, it stated that there has been a significant decrease in the probable pathological and problem gambling rates among Singapore citizens, dropping from 2.6% in 2011 to 0.7% in 2014. It could be said that the campaign could play a part in contributing to this, although it is uncertain to what extend does it directly impact the percentage. (Media release) NCPG has also work hand in hand with Singapores legalised bookmaker, Singapore Pools. Visual aids have been strategically placed in the betting kiosk of Singapore Pools throughout the nation. These visual aids are video stills from the advertisement andthey help to further reinforce the viewers of the message that gambling addiction can be a problem and that help is just a phone call away (Hayes, Hendrix and Kumar 2013). It is but a known fact that world cup tournaments especially that of football world cup is celebrated and worshipped by all soccer lovers around the world and during this time a lot of people invest a lot of money while engaging themselves in the evil gambling game of sports betting (Franklin 2009). In order to tackle this problem the NCPG had taken the opportunity of the recent football world cup tournament and came out with a series of thought-provoking stories and snippets of life of a small boy called Andy who is facing a lot of problems and under a great amount of pressure as is father is engaged in gambling and sports betting. But unfortunately in this case it backfired because of the simple reason that in the advertisement Andy said that he was worried as his father had bet all his money on Germany and in the finals it was Germany that actually won. This became a laughing stock as it was found that instead of becoming an advertisement to stop gambling and sports betting, it le d on to show that betting and gambling can also make wonders for the people doing it, which is a totally wrong message (Green 2010). Theory Theories are the collection of assumptions which explains how the processes work. It is used to make predictions about effects of the work processes. Theories play an important role in explaining the whole processes by describing the concept (Theaker 2004). The importance of theories in the public relation is that it gives an understanding to the public relations practitioners of what and how the public relations actually work. There was no theories during early days of the public relations and had no or little guidelines to direct them in order to craft tactics, programs, strategies and communication plans. In the 19th centaury the press agents worked hard in order to create news to influence the public opinion. The model is called as the press Agentry model (GAO et al. 2013). A press agent also conducted a research or survey to manipulate the behaviour of the people. The model is one way communication in which press agents uses manipulation and persuasion to influence the behaviour of the public. Therefore, the model is used by the practitioners as a one way communication in order to sell their products and services. The public information model is also a one way communication methods but the flow of messages are accurate. It helps to provide accurate information and helps to encourage ethical practices. In 20th centaury the focus was on that the public relations practitioners should move towards more accurate and truthful messages. The model is commonly used by the government agencies, law enforcement agencies and military units. The two way asymmetric model shows that feedback system is significant to the practitioner but aim was not to improve the organizational practices but to influence the attitudes of the audiences (Gregory 2010). The model is considered as the most ethical model and feedback gathered nby the organization is used to change the organizational practices. Discourse can be depicted as the themes attitude as well as values expressed via oral along with written statements behaviour, images etc, which at a undertaken time along with place under a certain institutional and non institutional background as well as considered meaningful. Importantly the disclosure claims to be significant and at the same time claims to be truth (McKie and Willis 2012). For example the discourse is as follows an individual should have at least a degree to become a successful man. Discourse can be depicted a system of thoughts comprised with concepts, attitude, course of activities, beliefs and practice which methodically construct the matter as well as the world of which they speak. The public relation practitioners are engaged in the maintenance as well as transformation of the discourse initially via the production along with distribution of text that facilitate certain socio cultural practices. With the consideration of the discourse theory, the role of thi s plays an effective element for the PR. In relation to the civil society, the degree of the work for the public relation helps in the creation of the influence for the public discourse and thereby it also helps in the mitigating the contentious issues. The related academic discipline also helps in the influencing the critical discourse made for the employment and thereby it also helps in the generation of the professional practices for the enhancement of the communication campaign. The current understandings depict the social roles played by the PR with the construction of the public professions and also help in the creation of the articulation of the relationship between the public relation and the public interest (McKie and Willis 2012). With focusing on the part of the conceptualisation, the effective public spheres are made for reviewing the perspectives and the drawbacks of the works made according to the discourse theory in todays PR relation. As mentioned above, the advertisement used during their 2014 campaign, the father is requesting to use the daughters savings to fuel his addiction to gambling. This can be seen as an inappropriate due to the fact that the daughter is still a minor and that she is unable to provide for herself, let alone provide for her father, especially his gambling addiction. It seeks to inform the viewers that friend and family around you will be affected just by picking up gambling, As seen, the social discourse this advertisement generated is that gambling is harmful not just to yourself but your loved ones as well. Social discourse Talk about the social impact of gambling addiction, example loan sharks harassments, It can be said that the gambler might not focus on his job due to the constant thinking of gambling or solving their monetary crisis with the ah longs, thus they may get fired from their job which can pile on to their list of problem, having to now worry about providing for their family. These worries can lead to an immense amount of pressure, resorting to crime or even committing suicide to solve the problems. Ultimately these actions harms the loved ones the most. Not just the loved ones, the other party that can be impacted by the gambler would be the company one is working for. Due to ones gambling addiction, one may not be entirely focused on the job, leading to the other colleague to pick up the slack, meaning that more work has to be done by the others (Oliver 2010). Along with hurting the near and dear ones of the family, the gambler also at the same time puts the future of the children of the family in stake. As seen in many cases, children need to drop out from school at a very early age because of the simple fact that their guardian have lost all money on gambling and are therefore unable to afford for the basic necessities of the life of a child (Parsons 2008). Children are rid of their childhood as a consequence of Problem Gambling. Problem Gambling leads to people losing out the right track of mind and getting involved in other heinous crimes and activities as they are always in desperate need of money. There are also situations where a gambler is known to be in such a huge debt that he killed his family and himself in order to get rid of the problems (Sheehan and Xavier 2009). Gambling can never be good for the society as ones gain clearly means anothers loss. Moreover since this game is dependent on luck, it is not logical to support such a sport. Conclusion The gambling is one of the most dreadful habits of human being as it plays a vital role in the down fall of an individual. Economically a person can be down to the worst position by the gambling. Apart from the financial hazards, the gambling can play significant role to drop the psychology of a human being. It is perceived that due to the bad habit the individuals sale their valuables, ornaments, properties even it has been perceived that individual bets on their nears and dears (Tench and Yeomans 2006). Singapore is the worst example of the gambling country; it is ranked as worlds 2nd largest gambling country. There are several people in this country indulge in gambling activities and they incurred a huge amount of money in order to peruse their gambling habit.
